As I write this, I'm listening to The Theorist's Medley 'Slow Jamz Overnight'. The Theorist has also uploaded a tutorial video for this which I am currently learning. To begin with, who is The Theorist.

The Theorist is one of the most talented and skilled pianist I have seen on YouTube because of ability to transcribe popular hip-hop, RnB and other tracks into an only piano cover. His ability to cover songs and play them right through from the start to the end with no mistakes shows that he dedicates his time in mastering every cover that he uploads on YouTube. Specifically in his video of 'Slow Jamz Overnight' which is a medley of some classic Twista tracks, beginning with 'Wetter' then moving into 'Overnight Celebrity' and 'Slow Jamz' featuring Kanye West & Jamie Fox.

Right from the moment you hit play, the familiar melody of 'Wetter' welcomes you to the begging of something that is truely amazing. The soft piano is accompanied by smooth visuals of the inside of his grand piano which then transitions to the front of the piano showing The Theorist playing the keys. The Theorist successfully made me feel nostalgic by fusing these three classic Twista tracks.

Seamlessly he then transitions into 'Overnight Celebrity', another classic Twista hit, the familiar opening melody of the violin in the original is transcribed perfectly into a piano melody. He also perfectly transcribes the bass notes of the violin in the original to make it sound almost identical to the melody in the original song. After the intro with the violin the original tracks has a piano rifts that plays as Twista drops his first verse.

Whats even more impressive is the way he then finally transitions into 'Slow Jams' which is still to this day one of the best productions I've heard. In a span of only 3 minutes and 54 seconds, The Theorist blends these three classic tracks into one amazing master piece. This really shows that the piano has almost no limitations when the player creates interprets a specific song. The instrument is only as good as the player and there is no doubt that The Theorist has done justice to these three tracks.

The only criticism I have is not on this video but his tutorial video of this cover however The Theorist shares how he plays the track which is something that is a huge plus for me because it motives and inspires me to practice and hopefully be able to play at his level. The tutorial video is somewhat rushed and doesn't show the correct fingering for the notes, as it's only a midi piano guide. Then again, he does upload sheet music which is what most professionals and people that can read sheet music go by so excuse my lack of not being able to keep up with the sheet music but I will get there one day. What the video and enjoy it for yourself.
