Artists love to collaborate. collaborations mean more exposure to the artists because they are creating something that is not only for their following by also brings together the other artists following creating a larger fan base and even adding more people to their already large fan base. This obviously isn't a new trend however we can see that today artists such as J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar have created huge hype around their new collaborative album which was hinted in J. Cole's rap over Kendrick's instrumental of "Alright".

""When you and K. Dot shit drop?"Bitch never,

they can’t handle two Black niggas this clever

But this February, bet shit get scary when I fuck around and drop..." - J. Cole

Fans of both J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, including myself, have been anticipating a collaboration album for years. After Cole dropped his album '2014 Forest Hills Drive' and Kendrick recently released his EP, 'Untitled Unmastered', the hype of their album has continued to rise even to the point of fan made album covers.

Not only will more artists reach out to each other but I believe that the more artists collaborate, the more unique styles will be created because of the different musical styles and influences coming together to create new material. In particular, these two artists are compared as the modern Notorious B.I.G and 2 Pac because of their poetic lyricism and influence on their listeners. Their skill is influencing the future produces and artists to create music that is both influential and enjoyable to listen to, 'just dropping straight fire'. A lot of hip-hop music is inspired from samples and sliced up melodies and drum loops from old vinyl records. As shown in the making of "Power Trip", J. Cole samples Hubert Laws' track "No More", after adding his style to it, the hit single, "Power Trip", was born.
